This weekend I took a solo venture up to the historic mining town of Silver Plume, Colorado. Silver Plume was established in 1870 during the height of the Gold Rush and at its peak hosted more than 2,000 miners. Now it is a home run municipality with the 169 residents preserving its history through its charming buildings and story led tours. Though it is named after the silver ore that streaks this canyon, the mines of Silver Plume offer many other gemstones to be found. I tried my luck at gem hunting but alas found mostly fungus.
